Bishops Finger

Shepherd Neame

The only beer that can be called a Kentish Strong Ale after being given Protective Geographic Indicator from the European Union as all ingredients used to make the beer are sourced from Kent. It's a hand-crafted beer that is only ever brewed on a Friday. It's made using Kentish malt and East Kent Golding hops and brewed in a Russian antique teak mash tun. It's one of the most distinctive ales along with being one of the strongest bottled ales in Britain.

Had a bottle of this back in 1999 during a visit to the Olde Dart, in an eatery in Warwick. It's a remarkable brown ale, nutty and hoppy at the same time, excellent mouthfeel, great head and satisfying finish.

While living in the UK this did become our beer of choice. Worked hand in hand with the weather there, warms you up pretty quickly with it's high alcohol content. A real smooth beer with its rich, complex, with a stunning balance of malt and hops! If you haven't tried Bishops Finger you haven't lived!! P.S-Never knew it was only brewed on a Friday? How do they keep up with the demand?!
