Bon Chiens Farmhouse Ale

Beard and Brau

What they say........
Bon Chiens is brewed in petite batches using the freshest ingredients allowing this bold libation to encapsulate the flavours of the season. Honey blossom aromas introduce the sweet biscuit malt and compliment the delicate French hop flavour. From our initial evaluations, we found some very complex subtle vanilla and spice aromas generated from the higher alcohol content and dry hopping.  This beer is one to be cellared, where the flavours will round out with age, we are going to hide away a number of cases in our cellar.

Pours a ruby red colour with good head retention and carbonation. Slight mixture of malt and hops on hops on the nose. Warming across the palate with spices evident. Reminds me of winter. One to treasure!

Surprisingly drinkable for a beer this strong. Definitely one that needs to be let stand at room tempertature for a while before drinking to really get the most of it. Smooth texture and a variety of flavour that was surprising - probably as it wasn't overshadowed by the alcohol content.

It pours with a wonderful copper colour with great clarity and a pillowy white head. There is noticeable honey like aroma and malt aromas coming through along with hints of spice, fruit, chocolate and some biscuit qualities. Wonderful yeast character. Smooth mouthfeel with no hot alcohol notes and good carbonation lead through to a surprisingly dry finish. Very refreshing. There is good balance between the bitterness and malt as well as the other flavours. There is a subtle hop flavour that works well with the malt flavours, especially the biscuit/cracker like flavour. There is a bit of sweetness to it despite finishing dry. I love this beer, its complexity and ease of drinking. cest très bon.

An orangey-amber colour and with a grainy flavour and sadly some hints of plastic seem to eke into it. Very strong at 7.9% ABV and pours with a huge, fluffy head.
